Australian Vaccination Network named in NSW Parliament as a purveyor of misinformation

Yesterday, in the New South Wales Parliament,  NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner replied to Questions on Notice, asked by Opposition Health Spokesperson, Dr Andrew MacDonald. This is now a matter of public record:

The Australian Vaccination Network has not provided accurate information to  parents about the risks and benefits of immunisation. Any link between the  measles vaccine and autism has been conclusively discredited by numerous studies and reviews by credible experts, including the World Health Organisation, the American Academy of Paediatrics and the UK Medical Research Council…

The questions asked by Dr MacDonald were in reference to a misleading WIN News story, also covered in my blog post, here: ABC News teaches WIN News a lesson in responsible public health broadcasting.

Here is a screen capture of the NSW Parliament site. Enjoy, and share amongst your family, friends, and community, in the interests of public health and safety:

Questions on Notice asked August 22 2012. Answer from Health Minister September 26 2012.

One Response to Australian Vaccination Network named in NSW Parliament as a purveyor of misinformation

  1. Gary Kelk says:

Wouldn’t it be nice if that awareness campaign included warnings about anti-vaccination misinformation.
